SPECIAL TRAITS

  • Legendary Vision (1/day). As an action, the cyclops peers into an individual’s possible future destinies, granting advantage to a single roll (attack roll, saving throw, or skill check), to itself or to the creature it observes. If the cyclops uses this effect on itself, advantage must be applied on a roll that affects or interacts with the creature it chooses. Alternatively, it can see farther into the creature’s future, gaining insight on how the individual may find a path to glory or great personal success.
  • Legendary Flash of Insight (1/day). Once per day as a reaction, the cyclops can peer into an occluded visual spectrum of possible futures, gaining insight that allows it to select the exact result of one die roll before the roll is made. Additionally, when a Legendary cyclops spends a use of its this power in this way, it may affect the die rolls made by other creatures.
  • Prescient Combat. The cyclops has a split-second awareness of future attacks made against it. This functions identically to uncanny dodge rogue class ability. Additionally, the cyclops is immune to sneak attack damage. It is still subject to critical hits.

ACTIONS

  • Multiattack. The cyclops makes two greataxe attacks or one heavy crossbow attack.
  • Greataxe. Melee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 23 (3d12 + 6) slashing damage.
  • Heavy Crossbow. Ranged Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, range 100/400 ft., one target. Hit: 17 (2d10 + 6) piercing damage.

LEGENDARY ACTIONS

The cyclops can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature’s turn. The cyclops regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

  • Incredible Strength (Costs 2 Actions). The cyclops gains a surge of strength, gaining advantage on Strength checks and adding 1d12 to the damage dealt by its melee weapon attacks for 1 round.
  • Titanic Regeneration. The cyclops regains 10 hit points at the start of its turn if it has at least 1 hit point and isn’t incapacitated. If the cyclops takes acid or fire damage, this trait doesn’t function at the start of its next turn. The cyclops dies only if it starts its turn with 0 or fewer hit points and doesn’t regenerate.
  • Master of Destiny (Costs 2 Actions). The cyclops can foretell and alter its fate. The next attack that would hit the cyclops misses instead.

ABOUT

Many thousands of years ago, the solemn cyclopes ruled vast kingdoms, yet today their glories are long forgotten. What few cyclopes survive seldom aspire higher than protecting their lairs and seeking out their next meals. This latter task occupies a great deal of their focus, for the monstrous appetites and vacuous hunger of the cyclopes control the race’s destiny and may have led to their original downfall so long ago. The average cyclops stands 9 feet tall and weighs 600 pounds. Both males and females are almost completely bald, with stringy patches of dark hair occasionally hanging down from above the ears. A bushy, expressive brow couples with a cyclops’s massive eye to make the creature’s attitude easily known.

Cyclopean history is a vanishing thing inscribed on the crumbling walls of vinechoked lost cities that fell long before even the rise of the elves, when dragons and giants ruled a landscape unspoiled by the petty ephemeral races that rule today. Because things have fallen so far, a given cyclops is less likely to know the near-mythic triumphs of lost ages than even a semi-educated human.
