“What’s Galentine’s Day?”

“Oh, it’s only the best day of the year!” – Leslie Knope

I am a huge fan of Leslie Knope, probably because we are basically soul sisters. We share a lot of similarities, from her love of waffles with whipped cream to marrying a nerd to having a best friend who is a nurse, as well as having a personality that is all too often very quirky.

On a side note that is very nerdy, did you know that Adam Scott has a small role in the Star Trek: First Contact movie? We were watching it the other day & Roger had to rewind & pause when he noticed someone who looked keenly like Scott. It just makes his Star Trek Lines in Parks & Rec even more lovable!

Anywho… So when I started to gather pink items to create a seasonal tablescape it immediately became clear that I needed to create a Galentine’s tablescape!

And whether you plan to create a Galentine’s Day party or choose to do Valentine’s Day party with all of your friends I thought it would be fun to share how easy it is to create a beautiful, yet simple, table to celebrate with your friends & family.

For this quick & easy Galentine’s tablescape, I went with a white & pink color scheme with hints of gold here & there.

I wanted this to be something that you can easily through together since Galentine’s Day (February 13) falls on a weekday. So I chose to use white plates for the base, with smaller gold rimmed pink plates on top & silver plastic utensils (& “food rakes”) placed on top tied simply with a ribbon bow.

The white plates are from IKEA & the gold-rimmed pink plates are from Hobby Lobby.

I’m kind of obsessed with them. As I’m sure you noticed I also used it in the pictures from this dark chocolate raspberry dessert.

And since tables often can become overcrowded with “apps & zerts” I decided to keep it simple with a few vases filled with fresh flowers & a couple of hurricane vases for candles.

Both the gold & pink hurricane vases & the clear/pink flower vases are also from Hobby Lobby as well. And I’m pretty sure I found all of these items in the spring section.

I chose white hydrangeas along with white & pink roses to continue the color scheme in a more vertical dimension on the table.

Now the only thing missing is people & chairs!

Yes, two years of owning this gorgeous table that Roger built & I stained & we still don’t have dining room chairs!

I’m determined that this table will not be sold or donated & that it will come with us to the house we will be building later this year to be placed in our dining room.

And since we will be basically selling or donating most of what we have so that we can fit into an apartment while we build, I’ve already started making a list of furniture to purchase after we move.

So hopefully this time next year we will be getting ready to move into our new home where we will have lots of space for entertaining & holding Galentine’s parties for years to come!
